PARKE COUNTY —
An arrest has been made in a fatal accident that occurred Saturday in Parke County.
Devon A. Norton, 22, of Brazil, was arrested for driving while suspended resulting in death for his alleged involvement in an accident on Jeffries Ford Road where the Jeffries Ford Covered Bridge once stood.
A passenger in the vehicle, Clyde A. Timmerman, 53, of Terre Haute, was pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle careened off an embankment and flipping onto its top at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
At the scene, both Norton and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Perna Price, told police that a fourth person had been in the vehicle and that person was the driver.
An investigation by the Parke County Sheriff’s Department determined that no fourth person was involved and that Norton was the driver.
Norton was arrested Monday for driving while suspended resulting in death, a class-C felony, as well as false informing, a class-B misdemeanor. He is being held in the Parke County Jail without bond.
