POLAND —
Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank Tuesday morning in the small Clay County town of Poland.
The suspect displayed a dark-colored handgun and demanded money from one of the two tellers on duty at the First Financial Bank on Indiana 42. The man, described as a white male, possibly in his 30s, fled on foot to the east, taking with him an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
It was not known if the suspect later drove from the scene or continued on foot.
No one was injured and there were no customers in the bank about 9:53 a.m. when the robbery took place, said Sgt. Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police.
Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton was the first emergency responder at the scene, arriving at 10:05 a.m. Lead investigators in the case are Indiana State Police Detective Sam Stearley and Clay County Sheriff’s Detective Jerry Siddens.
ISP urges anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Indiana State Police Putnamville District at 765-653-4114 or the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at 812-446-2535.
