TERRE HAUTE —
Terre Haute Police pursued a wanted suspect late Thursday both in vehicles and on foot on the city’s south side.
Despite tracking by three canine units, however, police were unable to locate the suspect, THPD Assistant Chief Shawn Keen said.
At about 10:24 p.m., an officer on the Street Crimes Unit saw a pickup truck northbound on Eighth Street near Idaho Street driven by Daniel Allen. The officer knew Allen had an active warrant for escape issued out of Vigo Superior Court 6, Keen said, so the officer followed the truck, which turned onto Hulman Street and then sped off into an alley between Eighth and Ninth streets.
Other police units responded to the area, and he truck failed to slow when it reached the intersection of Lockport Road, crashing into a curb. The truck continued on, however, traveling to Voorhees Street. Keen said that Allen eventually bailed out of the vehicle in an alley about three blocks north of Voorhees, and fled on foot.
Keen said the officers looked in the truck and saw numerous items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. A search of the neighborhood was conducted, with police going door-to-door in an effort to find Allen.
Allen is described as a white male with brown eyes and brown hair. He is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call THPD at 812-238-1661.
