TERRE HAUTE — A man accused of child molesting appeared in Vigo Superior Court Division 1 Friday for his initial hearing.
Bradley Edwin Furney, 18, of Prairie Creek, was been charged with child molesting, a class-B felony, which carries a possible prison term of six to 20 years.
Information read in court alleges that Furney engaged in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual conduct with a young teenage victim Aug. 6.
The case was continued to Tuesday for the setting of a trial date. Attorney Mark Inman was appointed as Furney’s public defender.
Bail for Furney initially was set at $250,000 with no 10 percent allowed. However, Judge Pro Tem Wanda Oldham reduced the bail to $50,000, no 10 percent allowed, during Friday’s hearing. Furney was returned to the Vigo County jail following the hearing.
