David Lee Scott pleads guilty to beating charge

TERRE HAUTE — A man accused of attacking another person in the victim’s residence in October has pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence.

David Lee Scott 45, was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon in connection with an attack at the alleged victim’s home.

Police reported that Scott entered the home and displayed a knife, then battered and injured the man. The alleged victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

Scott left the scene before police arrived, but was later arrested on a warrant.

The plea agreement in Vigo Superior Court 6 called for a two-year prison term, with credit for 133 days that Scott has spent in the Vigo County Jail awaiting trial. The balance of his sentence is to be served on informal probation.

Scott has a prior conviction for murder in connection with a 1985 bludgeoning death. Scott served 23 years in prison before being set free in January 2008 after DNA evidence placed another person at the scene of the 1985 crime.
