TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute man accused of molesting a juvenile family member has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Oscar M. Foster III, 34, had faced two class-A felony counts of child molestation as well as a habitual offender enhancement.
Foster was arrested in February 2012 by Terre Haute Police for an incident that allegedly occurred days earlier with a victim who was younger than age 14.
The plea agreement drops one of the child molestation counts and the habitual offender enhancement. Foster was given credit for 382 days already spent in jail awaiting trial.
Man avoids trial with
last-minute plea
A last-minute plea agreement kept a Terre Haute man from going on trial in a child molestation allegation.
Yovani Velasquez-Morales, 28, had been charged with class-C felony child molestation for incidents that alleged occurred from April 2004 through December 2004 when the victim was less than 10 years old.
On Monday he signed a plea agreement to a lesser charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a class-A misdemeanor.
The plea agreement called for a one-year sentence, with credit for time already spent in the Vigo County Jail awaiting trial.
