Bridge reconstruction to begin on Indiana 54

No closure will be required

SULLIVAN — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that beginning on or after Monday, July 9, work will begin on the bridge replacement project on Indiana 54, east of Sullivan.

Contractor’s crews will be replacing the bridge decks on two structures, 1.48 and 1.92 miles east of U.S. 41 over Coulson Drain and Busseron Creek. In order to maintain a safe work zone, one lane will be closed at a time. Stop lights will be installed on each end of the work zone to control traffic through the area. There will also be a 15-foot width restriction in place.

The $1.9 million contract was awarded to C.L.R. Inc. of Vincennes in February of this year. It is estimated the project will be complete in November 2013, weather permitting.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot or www.trafficwise.in.gov.
