INDIANAPOLIS —
A Jasonville man plans to take his first-ever vacation after winning $138,000 on a free Hoosier Lottery Cash 5 ticket over the weekend.
Stephen Crace claimed his prize this morning at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters. As he waited for his winnings, the Greene County man admitted that his win was somewhat of a fluke. Crace said he regularly buys scratch-offs but only found himself in possession of a winning Cash 5 draw ticket after winning it on a new Cash 5 scratch-off game.
"Initially I figured I might get a dollar out of it," Crace said.
The lucky winner got a lot more than a dollar out of it and he said he plans to use his windfall to do something he has never done before — take a vacation.
"I'm going to take my dad fishing in Alaska," Crace said.
"It's cool to suddenly get a couple three years wages at once," said Crace, a coal miner who previously worked for the railroad. "But I'll keep working and pay off my car and some small bills and maybe the property."
Crace's winning ticket came from Country Porch Convenience Store at 221 E. Main St. in Jasonville.
