BRAZIL —
A 17-year-old driver died Saturday afternoon and a 16-year-old passenger suffered severe head trauma in a one vehicle accident in Brazil.
According to a Brazil Police Department news release, Troy Allen Jeffrey II of Brazil crashed his vehicle at White Rock Road and South Leavitt Street in Brazil. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, the report stated. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled three times, ejecting Jeffrey.
Clay County Coroner Joel Reinoehl pronounced Jeffrey dead at the scene.
The passenger, 16-year-old Dylan Robert Dorn of Brazil, was removed from the vehicle by the Brazil Fire Department using the “Jaws of Life.” Dorn was transported by TransCare ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown by Air Evac helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital trauma center with severe head trauma, the report stated.
The accident remains under investigation.
