TERRE HAUTE —
Police radios were jamming throughout the evening Wednesday, as an unidentified couple led authorities on a multi-county, multi-state chase.
Terre Haute City Police initiated the pursuit at about 5:44 p.m., when a passenger car with Missouri license plates was observed parked near Poplar and South 13th streets with what was believed to be an unconscious driver.
Police said the male driver and his female passenger were still unidentified as of 9:30 p.m., and confirmed that they were in another vehicle at that point.
Scanner traffic followed the cross-country trek, which left Terre Haute, headed north through Vermillion County, west into Illinois and south through Paris, Ill. Along the way, the male driver reportedly crashed the first car, stole and crashed a pickup truck, stole and crashed an all-terrain vehicle, and then stole another pickup.
