West Terre Haute mother searching for missing son

WEST TERRE HAUTE — A West Terre Haute mother is seeking her 17-year-old son, who has been missing since March 8.

Cory Ratts was last seen by his family that day, but his car was found abandoned March 10 at Toys “R” Us on the city’s south side. The car keys and Ratts’ cell phone were still inside the car, said his mother, Michelle Anderson. That has her worried even more, because he constantly uses his cell phone, she said. He had no money with him, and no change of clothes.

A missing person report has been filed with the Terre Haute Police Department.

Anderson told the Tribune-Star that her son was involved in a hit-and-run accident March 7. She said he told police the other motorist was at fault, but it was actually her son’s fault. Ratts now faces a ticket and fine for false reporting and leaving the scene of an accident, Anderson said, and she thinks he may be afraid of being in trouble with the law.

She said she has contacted his friends, but no one has admitted to seeing him, so now she is asking for help from the public.

Anyone who has been in contact with Ratts or who knows where he is staying is asked to call Anderson at (812) 535-3109 or (812) 242-2433.
