Greene County man hit by car near Lyons Park, hospitalized

TERRE HAUTE — A Greene County man remains hospitalized after being hit by a car in front of Lyons Park on Indiana 67 in Greene County.

Deputy J. Aaron Smith of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported that William R. Allen, 75, was attempting to cross the highway around 6:48 a.m. Thursday when he was hit by a westbound 1994 Toyota Corolla driven by Richard M. Dawson, 31, of Martinsville.

Allen was taken to Greene County General Hospital, then transferred by air ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dawson, who was not injured, was released from the scene. No criminal charges were anticipated Thursday.

Smith was assisted at the scene by the Lyons Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance Service.
