WEST TERRE HAUTE — A man on a bicycle was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday evening.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department reports that the man was riding his bicycle on Larimer Hill near West Terre Haute when he was struck around 8:42 p.m. Witnesses report the vehicle left the scene westbound on old U.S. 40.
Dispatchers requested Lifeline emergency medical helicopter to airlift the victim, but the stormy weather had grounded the helicopter transport.
