ROCKVILLE — Two men are dead after a double shooting Friday at the Lee Alan Bryant health care facility near Rockville.
Parke County authorities said two bodies were discovered Friday about 4 p.m. after someone reported a dead body at the facility, which is about three miles east of Rockville on U.S. 36.
“Upon arrival at the scene we found one individual in a maintenance area of one of the buildings that was pretty obviously dead,” said Parke County Sheriff Michael Eslinger. “While my officers were clearing the buildings, one of the officers went across the street and in the basement of another maintenance area they found another individual,” he said.
Both men, reportedly maintenance workers at Lee Alan Bryant in their late 20s or early 30s, were apparently killed by gunshot wounds. A shotgun “appeared” to be the weapon, Eslinger said.
As of Friday night, identification of the men was pending notification of family, Eslinger said.
Police are not seeking any suspects at this time, Eslinger noted, adding there is no known danger to anyone else at the facility or elsewhere in connection with the incident.
Police accounted for all on-duty Lee Alan Bryant employees and all clients of the facility after arriving at the scene, he said.
The Parke County coroner pronounced both men dead at the scene. The bodies will be transported to Terre Haute where Vigo County coroner Dr. Roland Kohr will perform autopsies, Eslinger said.
Once the police investigation is completed, evidence will be turned over to the county prosecutor’s office, Eslinger said. A police statement could be made as early as today, he said.
“Right now the investigation is ongoing,” Eslinger said.
Police estimate the shootings took place between 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m., Eslinger said. No one at the facility reported hearing a gunshot, he said. Police were notified of the first body around 4:10 p.m., he said.
The Parke County Sheriff’s Department, the Rockville Police Department, Indiana conservation officers and the Indiana State Police took part in the investigation Friday.
