Arrests made in Clay County church burglaries

TERRE HAUTE — Police have arrested two more people in connection with a rash of church burglaries in Clay County.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday evening it has arrested a third juvenile allegedly involved in the break-ins and also an adult, Michael Hadley, 21, of Brazil.

On Sunday, Clay County authorities announced they had arrested two juveniles for alleged involvement in the burglaries, which have involved churches in the Cory area.

The people arrested are preliminarily facing felony burglary and theft allegations and also preliminary  misdemeanor charges of trespass and criminal mischief.

Items taken in the recent burglaries included musical instruments, sound equipment and even cash. Some items have been recovered, but Clay County authorities are asking for help in recovering additional items.

Anyone who recently acquired audio equipment, sound equipment or electronics is encouraged to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s office.
