TERRE HAUTE —
A May 14 trial date has been set for a man accused in the death of his estranged wife, whose remains were found Nov. 3 in rural eastern Vigo County.
Enzert G. Lewis, 38, appeared Monday in Vigo Superior Court 3 with public defender James Organ in a brief hearing on the charge of murder alleging that Lewis killed Allyson Elmi Lewis on Oct. 10.
A pretrial conference date is set for April 22.
Lewis has also been charged with altering the scene of a death, and obstruction of justice, both class-D felonies, and invasion of privacy, a class-A misdemeanor.
The woman’s body was found just off Hyde Road along the Vigo-Clay county line about a mile north of Indiana 42. Lewis was arrested Nov. 6 after police investigated information from a family member who heard about the woman’s body and reported the victim missing.
