TERRE HAUTE — A Sept. 18 trial date has been set for a Hendricks County police officer charged in an April 2010 domestic battery allegation that occurred in Deming Park.
Christopher Gill, 30, appeared Wednesday in Vigo Superior Court 5 to challenge a protective order requested by his ex-wife for her and the couple’s minor child, who live in Terre Haute.
Judge Michael Rader granted the protective order, and set the September trial date on the class-D felony charge after learning that the case has been pending in Vigo Superior Court 4 since the criminal charge was filed in July 2010. The case was recently transferred to Rader’s court.
According to information filed in the case, Gill allegedly grabbed his estranged wife’s arm and shut a car door on her lower leg at the conclusion of a child visitation in April 2010. Gill is employed by the Danville Police Department, where his father is police chief. He is a resident of Vigo County.
