As you read through your newspaper this morning, I wanted to point out a few changes (some you may have already noticed) and to let you know about what we are doing here at the Tribune-Star to better serve you.
First, starting this past Friday, we made a change to the format of our classified ads. Previously, the ads flowed into nine columns on each page. Over the years, as the width of the paper that we use has been reduced, the width of the columns reduced as well. To make the ads easier to read, we decided to reduce the number of columns on each page, moving from a nine-column format to six columns, just like the rest of the newspaper. The classified ads are easier to read and hopefully will serve the readers and the advertisers much better with this change.
Another change that we made started today. Each Sunday, you will find the Classified section at the end of the Sports section. Previously, we made Classifieds a separate section. Over the years, more and more advertisers have wanted to run their ads in color, and we also wanted more of our photos in color. But our press has some limitations. In order to create more color opportunities, we discovered that if we ran the Classifieds at the back of the Sports section, we were able to double the number of color pages available each Sunday. This will make the Sunday paper more colorful and appealing to readers and advertisers, alike.
The folks at the Tribune-Star are always trying to find ways to improve our customer service. These changes will move us toward that goal. Thanks for reading us each day and for turning to us as your local information source.
