CANDLES to show film

TERRE HAUTE — A documentary film about a rescuer of Jews from the Warsaw ghetto is scheduled to be shown at 7:30 tonight at the CANDLES Holocaust Museum in Terre Haute.

Mary Skinner, director and producer of the film, will speak about the documentary, titled “Irena Sendler: In the Name of Their Mothers.”

“Touched by the plight of the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto,” a news release says. “Sendler and a number of other brave women smuggled food and supplies into the ghetto while smuggling children out.”

The documentary premiered on PBS in May 2011 and is approximately one hour in length. It features the last in-depth interview with Sendler before her death at the age of 98.

The film screening is free and open to the public and is made possible through an Indiana Humanities Initiative grant.

The CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center is at 1532 S. Third St.
