TERRE HAUTE — The Boy Scouts of America celebrated its 100th Anniversary on Monday and the Wabash Valley district within the Crossroads of America Council planning a celebration event Saturday.
The annual District Awards Dinner, set for 6 p.m. in the Meadows Banquet Center, will serve a dual role in 2010. The dinner will recognize top Scouts and honorees from several Wabash Valley cities and also allow alumni Scouts to return as part of the centennial celebration.
The Crossroads of America Council annually serves more than 30,000 youth in 25 central Indiana counties. Boy Scouts of America is a youth development organization that’s designed to prepare young people to make ethical and moral decisions throughout their lifetimes. The goals of Scouting consist of citizenship training, character education and personal fitness. Throughout the Boy Scout program, young people are encouraged to advance through ranks by fulfilling requirements in the areas of leadership, service and outdoor skills.

UPDATE: Fatal semi accident closes eastbound I-70 in Hendricks County
