Tribune-Star Christmas Basket Fund update

TERRE HAUTE — Since the late 1920s, the Tribune-Star has raised money for Christmas baskets to help feed needy families. This year’s goal for the Tribune-Star Basket Fund is $30,000, which will provide bountiful Christmas dinners to 600 families.

Previous balance: $6,050.63

James & Linda Dugger, $25

In memory of James & Hazel Piety and Earl & Betty Strain, $100

Kenny & Peggy Carmichael, $50

In honor of all shut-ins and members of Twelve Points Chapter 528, Order of the Eastern Star, $50

In loving memory of John J. Thomas, $25

Total raised to date: $6,300.63

Tribune-Star employees have celebrated the holiday season for more than 80 years by distributing Christmas baskets to families in need.

They have done this with the cooperation of The Salvation Army, which provides names of area residents who might otherwise do without, as well as the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.

The Tribune-Star would like to thank all who volunteered to assemble and distribute the baskets.

To Donate: Mail donations to Tribune-Star Basket Fund, 222 S. Seventh St., P.O. Box 149, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
