A plea agreement has been accepted for a former Indiana State University student who was arrested after investigators found 19 images of nude pre-pubescent girls on his laptop computer.
Taylor Austin Bruckerhoff, 20, of Newburgh, appeared Monday morning in Vigo Superior Court 3 where Judge David Bolk approved Bruckerhoff’s participation in the Adult Mental Health Court deferral program.
Bruckerhoff pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a class-D felony. The plea deal dismissed a count of class-C felony child exploitation, filed because Bruckerhoff allegedly disseminated child porn.
A warrant for his arrest was issued in the spring after the Indiana State Police concluded a six-week investigation that started after the ISP received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip involved reports that in early February of this year an Indiana State University student downloaded multiple child pornography images onto his personal computer using the main server of the university.
On April 3, police executed a search warrant on Bruckerhoff’s ISU dorm room, electronics and vehicle. During the search, 19 digital images of young female child pornography were discovered, the ISP release stated.
Bruckerhoff was also accused of using an online “chat room” for the attempted purpose of purchasing or disseminating child porn, police stated.
