City police investigate shots fired

TERRE HAUTE — Police on Sunday were still investigating reports of shots being fired Saturday night outside a Terre Haute night club.

Terre Haute Police Department personnel confirmed Sunday evening the investigation was ongoing, and noted that an arrest made near “The Event” on East Wabash Avenue was unrelated to the alleged discharge of a firearm.

Officers first responded to the facility, formerly Grandma Joy’s and Tuscany’s restaurants, after complaints of loud music and fighting in the nearby parking lot, police said. Upon their arrival, officers observed shots fired by an unknown individual or individuals, who then fled the scene.

Police later pulled over a suspicious vehicle and its driver, Steven Miller, Indianapolis, was arrested on allegations of possession of a handgun without a permit and possession of marijuana. But those allegations are unrelated to the shooting, police said.

Individuals with information about the incident are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 812-238-STOP.
