TERRE HAUTE —
Bicyclists on a cross-country ride to raise funds to fight disabilities are scheduled to wheel into Terre Haute and onto the Indiana State University campus about noon today.
The riders will be coming from Illinois on U.S. 40. They will cross the river bridge, ride down Fifth Street and around the fountain at ISU’s Dede Plaza.
The team will have dinner, dance and karaoke with Happiness Bag at 5:30 p.m.
The riders are participating in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity’s Journey of Hope Bike Ride across America. They are pedaling toward an arrival Aug. 5 in Washington, D.C.
Each team member was selected because of leadership, commitment to service and community involvement. Cyclists are required to raise a minimum of $5,500 to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
Journey of Hope bikers, spread across three routes, deliver messages about disability awareness along the way.
