CLAY COUNTY, Ind. —
A fuel spill from a disabled tractor-trailer on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 25-mile marker slowed early afternoon traffic in the area for a short time.
At about 11:15 a.m. the semi experienced mechanical issues and lost diesel fuel, reportedly less than 20 gallons, onto the emergency shoulder.
Semi driver Ronny Bill Hodge, 57, of Laurel, Miss., was cited for log book violations and placed out of service by Indiana State Police Master Trooper Kent Winstead. The empty Southland Express LLC tanker trailer from Sandy Hook, Miss., also was placed out of service and removed by Petro Wrecker Service.
Jackson and Posey Township volunteer fire departments in Clay County assisted with cleanup.
