BRAZIL —
A 19-year-old Putnam County man faces a child molesting charge after his arrest Monday on allegations involving a 13-year-old female from Brazil.
Zachary Lee Bennassi, Fillmore, was taken into custody by Indiana State Police at 2:19 a.m. in Greencastle and incarcerated in the Clay County Jail on suspicion of child molesting, a class-B felony. Bond was set at $25,000, with no 10 percent allowed.
The ISP investigation began on May 11 when learned of the allegations by the Brazil Police Department. The investigation led police to believe that on April 23 Bennassi coerced the female into sexual relations at Forrest Park in Brazil.
Days later, a member of the victim’s family reported the allegations to Brazil police.
