Trial date set for suspect accused in armed robberies

TERRE HAUTE — A July 30 trial date has been set for a Terre Haute man facing 21 criminal charges for his alleged involvement in two robberies in which residents were battered and held at gunpoint.

Jamar E. Dashillas, 18, appeared Monday morning in Vigo Superior Court 3 where Judge David R. Bolk also set a bond reduction hearing for Feb. 14.

The 21 criminal charges — including 18 felonies — are related to burglaries and robberies that occurred on Jan. 11 and Jan. 26.

Terre Haute Police contend Dashillas was one of three people who forced their way into a home on Jan. 11 while two people were in the residence.

Both residents were allegedly injured in the incident, and the suspects took money, a cell phone and a laptop computer.

Police allege that on Jan. 26, Dashillas and two other suspects again forced their way into a home while three people were inside. The suspects allegedly took electronics, a computer and money in that incident. A resident of the home was also struck with the butt end of a rifle, and a handgun was allegedly pointed at another resident.
