TERRE HAUTE —
A crash on U.S. 231 in Greene County Monday morning claimed the life of an Owensburg youth.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported that Brian Benton, 18, of Owensburg was killed after his vehicle struck a tree head on at about 8:25 a.m.
Benton was reportedly driving south on U.S. 231 north of County Road 600 South in Greene County when his vehicle crossed the center line and proceeded east off the roadway, police said in a news release issued Monday.
Police said Benton was transported by Greene County Ambulance to the Helipad at Greene County General Hospital where emergency responders were met by Air Evac. Police said Benton suffered fractures and internal bleeding.
