Four will vie for Sullivan mayor’s office

Sullivan — There are four contenders vying for the job of mayor of the town of Sullivan.

The deadline for anyone seeking the post was 6 p.m. Tuesday. Four people met the deadline, said Lynn Hamilton, Sullivan County Democratic Party chairwoman.

The town’s four Democratic Party precinct committeemen will choose a new mayor Friday night at 6 at the Sullivan eastside firehouse, Hamilton said.

The four names on the candidate list are Georgia Boles, Shannon Orman, Edward Eble and Clint Lamb, Hamilton said.

City Council President Debbie Ayers is acting as mayor until the post is filled.

The mayor’s job was vacated earlier this month when then-Mayor Scott Biddle, a Democrat, resigned for personal reasons. The job of Sullivan mayor pays $17,000 per year.
