Three Terre Haute residents arrested after Fairview Park altercation

Three Terre Haute residents were booked into the Vermillion County Jail on Wednesday night as a result of a parking lot fight in Fairview Park.

Arrested were Savannah Oeffler, 18, on charges of battery, disorderly conduct, minor consuming and public intoxication; Megan Martin, 28, on charges of battery and disorderly conduct; and Jordan Effner, 24, on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

According to police, Indiana State Police and Vermillion County Sheriff’s officers were dispatched at 10:51 p.m. Wednesday to a reported fight in progress in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Kibby Street in Fairview Park.

Indiana State Police Trooper Ty Lightle arrived moments later and allegedly found Martin and Oeffler fighting in the parking lot. Despite repeated verbal commands from Lightle to stop the altercation, the females refused. Lightle physically intervened, and stopped the fight, police say, but as the investigation continued, the two women again began fighting. After more unheeded commands to stop, the trooper then sprayed the women with a chemical agent, which ended the fight.

Lightle was then approached by Effner, who allegedly began yelling and interfering with the investigation.

The women were treated at the scene by Vermillion County EMS and Fairview Fire/Rescue for minor bleeding and chemical agent irritation.

Assisting Lightle were Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Holtkamp, Clinton City Police Officer Michael D’Auria, Vermillion County EMS and Fairview Fire/Rescue.
