Two people were hospitalized following a head-on collision Wednesday morning in northern Clay County.
Jason A. Milner, 34, of Poland, and Whitney N. Vanatti, 21, of Brazil, were driving separate vehicles when they collided about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday on Indiana 59 about a mile north of Brazil.
Deputy Brad Hardey of the Clay County Sheriff's Department reported that Milner was driving south when his truck was hit head-on by Vanatti’s northbound car, which crossed the center line just south of County Road 1100 North.
Milner was transported to Union Hospital and later transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday.
Vanatti was airlifted to Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition. Her condition was upgraded to serious on Thursday.
Assisting the sheriff's department at the scene were personnel from the Dick Johnson and Brazil fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue, and TransCare ambulance.
