Missouri woman dies in accident on Interstate 70

MARSHALL, Ill. — A Missouri woman died in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 near the 132-mile marker in Clark County, Ill., at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Illinois State Police at Effingham, Ill., report that Jerri Harlan, 62, of Highridge, Mo., was driving eastbound in a GMC Suburban when the vehicle went off the road to the right. She corrected it, but lost control. The GMC careened off the road, overturning several times and stopping in the median.

Harlan was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband, Cleon Harlan, 67, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, Ill., where he was treated and released.
