STAUNTON — Clay County authorities were still investigating the shooting of a Staunton man in his home Monday afternoon.
Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton acknowledged that Donald Borders, 68, 605 W. Columbus St., Staunton, claimed to have been lying on his couch when a man entered his home and shot him about 3 p.m. Monday.
Borders, who reportedly suffered a single gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, was treated in St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. According to a spokeswoman for the hospital, he had been released by Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the suspect is a white male about 40 years old with dark hair.
A spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday afternoon that no additional information had been learned beyond initial reports.
