Flood damage help available through program

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County Soil and Water Conservation District will receive funds from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to help landowners who have received damage from the flood in June, through a program called The Emergency Conservation Assistance Program.

The program offers assistance to landowners to get their land back into production, allowing for continued economic growth in the county.

The Conservation District will accept applications until Nov. 1. The board of supervisors then will review the applications, under ISDA instructions, and choose the applications for which the funds will be distributed. The Conservation District will do a 50/50 cost share with the landowners who are chosen. If work already has been completed, receipts and pictures can be turned in with the application for possible reimbursement.

Applications are available in the Conservation District office in Honey Creek West, behind the mall, at 3241 S. Third Place, in the USDA office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Any questions can be answered by calling the office at (812) 232-0193, ext. 3.
