Candidates for U.S. representative from Indiana’s 8th Congressional District will debate in Vincennes on Oct. 7. Congressman Brad Ellsworth, D-Evansville, and Greg Goode, a Republican from Terre Haute, will debate.

The League of Women Voters of Knox County (Vincennes), Southwest Indiana (Evansville), Vigo County (Terre Haute) and Greencastle will host the live televised debate at 7 p.m. EDT.

The debate site is the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center at Vincennes University.

The following television stations will broadcast the debate live: WVUT (PBS), Vincennes; WNIN (PBS), Evansville; and WTWO (NBC) and WTHI (CBS), Terre Haute. In addition, the debate will be aired on the Public Radio stations in those markets.

The debate format and rules were designed by the League of Women Voters with the goal of providing maximum time for both candidates to answer questions for the live television audience. The debate date, format and rules have been agreed upon by both campaigns. This will be the only debate between the candidates.

The League of Women Voters is a community-based, nonpartisan political organization that has fought since 1920 to improve our system of government and public policies through education and advocacy. The League promotes active and informed citizen participation in government.

As agreed to by both campaigns, seating for the debate in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center will be by invitation only.
