Beginning Saturday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Recovery Center at Booker T. Washington Community Center will be closed Saturdays and Sundays, but it will remain open during the week until further notice.

The Vigo County DRC hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at College Avenue and 13th Street.

Also, Hoosier flood victims can go to any Disaster Recovery Center regardless of where they suffered flood damage, said Mel Jenkins, FEMA field public information officer.

Jenkins also provided some Vigo County statistics related to FEMA disaster assistance:

• $7.2 million — approved for housing assistance

• $1.36 million — approved for other needs

Statewide as of Wednesday, a total of $86.4 million in disaster recovery grants and loans had been approved for Indiana disaster victims.
