FARMERSBURG — A motorist was on the lam after fleeing Indiana State Police troopers Monday night during a traffic-violation stop in Farmersburg.
Joseph E. Wilson, 44, was wanted for resisting law enforcement in a vehicle.
Two troopers stopped Wilson near U.S. 41 and Main Street in Farmersburg for not having lights on near the truck’s license plate.
When Wilson handed over his driver’s license to one trooper, a second trooper detected the smell of burnt marijuana coming from Wilson’s truck, according to a police news release.
When officers asked Wilson to get out of the truck, Wilson drove off instead, police stated.
A brief pursuit ensued, but the officers lost sight of the man’s truck near 1175 North in Sullivan County, two miles east of Miner City Road.
The officers went to the Lewis address as listed on his identification, on the Sullivan-Vigo border, but he was not there.
Instead, his former wife, Jamie Wilson, answered the door at the residence. Upon the officers’ investigation, they discovered pot in the residence, according to a police news release.
Jamie Wilson, 40, was issued a citation for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, police said.
Jamie Wilson told police that Joseph Wilson lives with his girlfriend in Jasonville, police said. He was still at large as of Tuesday evening, police said.
He was driving a blue, 2002 Ford pickup truck with Indiana truck license plate: 175512L. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
