UPDATE: Byron Sutton charged in death of handicapped brother

TERRE HAUTE — The DNA of a brother accused of killing his sibling was found on the revolver in the dead man’s apartment.

Byron Sutton, 46, of Terre Haute is in Vigo Superior Court 5 this morning on an allegation that he killed Guy Sutton, 47, whose decomposing remains were discovered in March inside his own Dreiser Square apartment.

Guy Sutton died of a single gunshot wound to the head. In court today, testimony indicated that testing of the gun at the Indiana State Police crime lab revealed Byron Sutton’s DNA.

During the investigation into the death of Guy Sutton, who was a double amputee, police found a large amount of blood on a couch in the apartment, along with a handgun.

Byron Sutton was arrested Monday night by Terre Haute Police, who had been searching for him since an arrest warrant was issued a few days ago.

An update to this news article will be posted later today, and a full report will appear in Wednesday’s issue of the Tribune-Star.
