NEWPORT —
Voter turnout in Vermillion County Tuesday was 59 percent Tuesday as more than 6,750 voters cast ballots in 17 precincts.
Vermillion County voters supported Republican Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama 52 to 45 percent with about 3 percent favoring Libertarian Gary Johnson.
However, Vermillion County voters supported Democrat John Gregg in the governor’s race over Republican Mike Pence, 52 percent to 40 percent. Libertarian Rupert Boneham received 5 percent.
They also supported Democrat Joe Donnelly in the U.S. Senate race over Republican Richard Mourdock, 54 percent to 38 percent with 7 percent supporting Libertarian Andrew Horning.
Democrats dominated the rest of the Vermillion County ballot, in many cases unopposed by Republicans.
