TERRE HAUTE —
A local pharmacist is facing felony allegations involving the theft of drugs and money.
According to a news release issued by the Indiana State Police, John T. Webb, 68, of Bloomfield, was arrested Monday evening on a preliminary allegation of theft, a class-D felony, and dealing in controlled substances, a class-B felony.
The release states that the owners of JR Pharmacy, 2902 Poplar St., contacted the ISP in October with concerns about Webb’s activities. After a two-week investigation, detectives allege that Webb illegally took approximately $1,100 in cash, as well as pharmaceutical drugs. He is accused of providing the cash and drugs to a female acquaintance in return for sexual favors, the release states. Other recipients of the drugs and money are believed to be family members, customers and his own personal use, according to the release. The investigation is ongoing.
Webb is reportedly a 10-year employee of the pharmacy. He remained in the Vigo County Jail on Tuesday with no bail. His first court appearance has been scheduled for today in Vigo County Court Division 1.
