Trail date set in battery with a deadly weapon case

TERRE HAUTE — A March 11 trial date has been set for a man accused of attacking another person at his residence Saturday.

David Lee Scott 45, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for battery with a deadly weapon in connection with a weekend attack at the alleged victim’s home.

Vigo Superior Court 6 Judge Michael Lewis appointed a public defender for Scott, who has been charged with a class-C felony. He is being held in the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash only.

Police reported that a man was attacked in his home on Saturday by a suspect identified as Scott. The victim told police Scott entered the home and displayed a knife, then battered and injured the man. The alleged victim was treated at Union Hospital in Terre Haute and released.

Scott left the scene before police arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday morning.

Scott has a prior conviction for murder in connection with a 1985 bludgeoning death.

Scott served 23 years in prison before being set free in January 2008 after DNA evidence placed another person at the scene of the 1985 crime.
