Man held after fight, stabbing

TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man faces a class-C felony battery charge after a Friday afternoon stabbing in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street.

Isaiah Batson, 29, was arrested for aggravated battery following the incident.

Terre Haute Police report that witnesses said Batson was riding his bike along the street when he stopped in front of a residence and got into an argument with another man, who walked up to Batson and allegedly punched him and knocked him to the ground.

Witnesses told police the two men fought until the fight broke apart and Batson started to chase the other man. A witness said she saw Batson stab the victim in the back multiple times.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Batson was arrested and booked into the Vigo County Jail at 10:37 p.m.
