TERRE HAUTE — A Terre Haute man faces multiple felony charges after an attempted break-in Sunday morning at a home in the 1300 block of First Avenue.

Formal charges are expected to be filed Thursday against Conrad M. Harrell, 48, who is being held in the Vigo County Jail with bail set at $50,000, cash only.

Judge Michael Lewis found probable cause for charges of possession of  handgun by a violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana when Harrell appeared Monday in Vigo Superior Court 6.

Detective Troy Davis said that police were called to the scene at about 8 a.m. and located Harrell as he left the rear of the residence in a white car.

Harrell stopped the vehicle, and police found two knives and methamphetamine on his person.

Officers also located a .22-caliber handgun near the driver’s seat. During a later search, police said they found 1.8 grams of marijuana in a baggie.
