TERRE HAUTE — If you know someone who is an upstanding citizen and who works hard for their neighborhood, the Terre Haute Neighborhood Partnership would like to hear about them.
The Terre Haute Neighborhood Partnership, a nonprofit organization that helps further the causes of organizing neighborhoods in Terre Haute and helping to improve communication between city government and citizens, is now accepting nominations for the Jennifer Nelson “A Level Above Good Neighbor” Award.
“This award recognizes the ongoing efforts of citizens in Terre Haute who are making exceptional contributions to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods and our city,” said Dave Thomas, president of the Terre Haute Neighborhood Partnership.
“Jennifer Nelson spent most of her spare time helping make her neighborhood a better place by working with children, senior citizens and her church,” said Liz Miller, a resident of the 13th Street Corridor neighborhood. “She will always be remembered for her good works in the community.” Nelson worked for Eli Lilly until her death in 2009.
All nominees must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Terre Haute. The deadline for submitting a nominee is March 31. Entry forms and rules of eligibility are available at Terre Haute City Hall, The Tribune-Star, Ryves Neighborhood Association and the Vigo County Public Library. The City of Terre Haute, Tribune Star and WTWO will have the entry forms on their Web sites as well.
The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges in early April and will receive their award at a special dinner held this spring. The winner of this award will be submitted by the THNP as a nominee for the Stella Stewart “Doing Good in the Neighborhood” Award, presented by the Regional Neighborhood Network Conference in October.
