Spring trial date set for accused pharmacist

TERRE HAUTE — An April 1 trial date has been set for a Terre Haute pharmacist arrested for theft and dealing in a controlled substance.

John T. Webb, 68, appeared Tuesday in Vigo Superior Court 1 with attorney Joseph Etling for the setting of court dates.

Webb, a 10-year employee of JR Pharmacy, was arrested last week as the result of an investigation by the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section.

According to ISP, in the latter part of October, the owners of JR Pharmacy contacted police with concerns of possible criminal activity by a pharmacist. After nearly two weeks of investigation, police allege Webb took nearly $1,100 in cash and various pharmaceutical drugs. Webb was allegedly providing the cash and drugs to a female acquaintance in return for sexual favors, as well as to family members, customers and for his own use.

The alleged thefts occurred at the JR Pharmacy location on Poplar Street in Terre Haute.
