Ms. Takes: ‘Fake’ news now more relevant than the real news

More and more I am getting the daily news from Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”.

At least it is news. I don’t need the scatological language, but Stewart does show the inconsistencies and incongruities as our government limps along. What a politician said last year may — or may not — represent what he says this year. This helps me make up my mind about who, and what, to believe.

It is certainly more applicable to my daily life than pictures of “OctoMom” showing off her new bikini body. After giving birth to eight children she must have worried about that. But, I didn’t.

It is also interesting that the same folks who were too busy or too disinterested to listen to Obama’s State of the Union message seem to be the folks most apt to gripe about the government. Approve or disapprove, but arm yourself with facts on which to base an opinion. Something other than a blog, please!

These people are often the same who have no problem finding time to sit for hours watching the pre-game whoopla for the Super Bowl, followed by the game itself. Listening to a panel of “expert” jocks analyze what we are going to see, followed at half-time by projections of the probable winner and then a post-game analysis seems a monumental waste of time. By the time the game actually began, around 6:30, I would have been hopelessly butt-sprung and unable to endure another three hours.

My Best Friend went to watch it with Number Two son and I curled up with a good book.

I know I can’t set priorities for someone else, but please don’t volunteer to set my priorities. I’ll do my own research.

I’m told it was a good football game. Unfortunately, the good guys lost. It’s equally unfortunate that too often the good guys lose in government too.
