Thanks for help in trashed area

Mayor Duke Bennett, along with Terre Haute Code Enforcement Division, would like to take this time to thank all involved in cleaning up the area between 15th and Washington streets and 15th and Hulman streets.

This area has been a problem for several years with people dumping large amounts of trash and debris, brush, limbs and tires. This area was cleaned up by the city a couple of years ago only to have it recently trashed again.

We would like to thank Chris Williams, a part-time city employee, for all the work he did in cleaning up this site and Republic Trash Services for donating the dumpsters.

We would also like to thank Carl Ross of Midwest Collision repair at 15th and Washington for assisting with his machinery to help move trash and load it into the dumpsters.

In addition, thanks to S&G Excavating for providing several large barricades to keep illegal dumpers out of this area. Our advice to the citizens of Terre Haute is that if you have a large mess to be hauled away, make sure you use a reputable company who will ensure it gets into the landfill and not alongside the road somewhere. This unsightly area has now been cleaned up and barricaded to stop future dumping.

Thanks again for the community involvement in helping keep Terre Haute beautiful.
