Thanks to Vigo County’s library
Life in the not-for-profit world is sometimes grim, especially with the tough economic times that have encompassed the Wabash Valley in the last few years. As we have all heard people say, “Every dark cloud has a silver lining.” The Vigo County Public Library has been the silver lining for United Cerebral Palsy of the Wabash Valley.
Words cannot begin to express the tremendous amount of gratitude that our organization (UCPWV) feels toward the library for the generous donation of hundreds of toys (valued at approximately $3,000) for UCPWV’s Adaptive Lending Library. All of the toys are adapted to meet the needs of children with disabilities, whether the need is cognitive or sensory. This donation alleviates a great deal of expense for the agency, as many of these toys are priced in the $200 range.
The partnership between VCPL and UCPWV will be a long-standing and prosperous one. It’s not just one organization helping another, it’s the community working together to reach a common goal, with the goal being that all children are served. My amazement never ceases with regard to how the Wabash Valley reaches out to help someone in need. We’re more than just a community … we’re a family.
