In November there was a need for a ramp for an elderly couple. They are members of the Terre Haute Eagles Aerie 291. The Eagle Riders were more than happy to do this. To our surprise, there were four other organizations that wanted to help.
The Eagle Riders would like to thank Duke Energy, which gave a donation for the material, and The Wheel Center, which put us in contact with the Push America Philanthropy. There was a great group of guys from Pi Kappa Phi who came out and built the ramp.
When people come together, good things happen. This project was started and finished on Dec. 5. The Eagle Riders would like to thank each and every one of you. It puts our motto “People Helping People” to work: Robert Craven, Kyle Hacker, Daniel Frymire, Garrett Hamblen, Doug Gehrke, Evan Shortridge, Jason Penrod, Matt Dessuit, Travis Alsup, Trevor Jennings, Keith Gettelfinger, Eric Gettelfinger, Chris Allen, Travis Englert, Jared Royer, Gary Payton, Jon Bolin, Willie Barrett and son Corbin Barrett.

Obama threatens middle-class business owners
I am a proud and happy Republican in Vigo County … an oddity at best, but it doesn’t change my choice of party.
I am astonished by most of the announcements from the White House. I am fearful for my nation’s future. I firmly believe that God has a strategic plan which will be accomplished despite our decisions to depart from His statutes. I continue to be puzzled by people who expect me to be enamored by our current president and his cabinet who collectively have no business experience. They tried a stimulus package and another one won’t help. They have devalued our currency and continue to print more paper resembling our once mighty dollar. The economic downturn will get far worse before it gets any better. The revenue shortfalls are far greater than the “experts” of our federal government imagined in their worst nightmares. Our larger manufacturers have moved out of the country to seek cheap labor. Our tattered middle class of business owners watch in terror as the White House threatens their very existence with health care mandates.
So, I personally object to Obama’s policies and plans of change. I want Obama to fail in the same sense that I would want someone who is breaking into my house and threatening my personal safety and property to fail. I want Obama’s policies to fail because if his policies succeed, I will have less control over my life in the form of more government regulations and higher taxes. Obama is breaking into my house of freedom and individual responsibility. The question is: Will he be “apprehended” before he causes the freedom-loving occupants lasting harm?
