. — Why should Israel give up land?

This may not get published, but I feel someone needs to speak up on Israel’s behalf.

Who do we think we are, trying to force Israel to give up her holy city and capital? Israel is about the size of New Hampshire. Why are so many people insisting that she give up more of her land? Has she not been attacked from the land she has already given up and pressured to restrain military action instead of defending herself? Is there not plenty of land in the Middle East? What would happen if Israel tried to take over Mecca?

Would the U.S. or other nations give up their land and their capitals? What would be our response if nations were pressuring us to give up Washington D.C.?

Do we actually think terrorists can be appeased? If so, why don’t we offer them Washington D.C.?  What nations opened their doors to the Jewish people when the Nazis were annihilating them? What else do we what to inflict on Israel?

Place needed for those who fish

I would like to know why we as taxpayers have to buy an Indiana fishing license for $17.50 a year when Terre Haute has nowhere to fish.

If you want to go fishing at night, then you have to pay for camping or have a private lake. If I had a private lake, I wouldn’t have to buy a license.

We love to take the kids out at night and spend time with them fishing. I would love to see my nephews out on a bank with a fishing pole than hanging out on Wabash Avenue drinking or drugging. A couple of years ago you could go to Fairbanks Park, Mill Dam, or Lazy L lake, but all the parks close at dark. Last year we got run off from the strip pits on Indiana 46. I tried to contact the owner, but you know he is a busy man. I left messages on his answering machine, but he never called me back.

So if you don’t know anybody, you’re S.O.L. Now that the police can’t control the meth or the freaks out there, we can’t fish after dark.

It’s sad to say that we live in a town that kids have nowhere to go after dark. You want to know why they get in trouble? They have nowhere to hang out.

$33 million? Only in America

Indianapolis Colts seven-year veteran Gary Brackett reportedly has a new five-year contract worth $33 million. As a middle linebacker in the NFL, Brackett’s primary responsibility is to knock opponents on their butts during the course of a game.

When I retired from teaching almost five years ago with 34 years of experience, my final annual salary was $60,146. As a teacher, my primary responsibility was to educate teenagers about their language and their government.

If the USA were a socialistic society, I doubt whether I would have fared less financially. If the USA were not a capitalistic society, I doubt whether anyone would be paid $33 million for five years to do anything.

But I am certain about one thing. Based on my highest salary, I would have to work 548.67 years to earn what Gary Brackett will be paid between now and 2015. I would end work in November, 2558.

If I were ending work now, I would have started in July 1461, about 31 years before Columbus discovered America.
